Begin exploring the JCL Online Catalog by clicking on Search the Shelves at JCL, where you can do different types of searches to find books and other materials in the library collections. Or you can log in to your own library account to see your own account record, renew materials or place holds, change your PIN etc. by clicking on My JCL Library Card Account

If the book or other material you want isn't listed in the JCL Online Catalog, you can still ask us to get it for you from another library through Interlibrary Loan. Just click on Worldcat Interlibrary Loan to search for the item you want and make your request.

To See Your Record
To Renew Items
To Place a Hold
To Change Your PIN

 

Visit the Jefferson County Library and present your library card or photo I.D. to get your PIN number. Then when you visit our home page online, go to Search for Books and More in the Main Menu on the left side of the page and click on My Library Card Account at JCL. From there you can view your record, place holds, and renew the items checked out on your card.

You must have:

  • your 14 digit library card number
  • AND your Personal Identification Number (PIN)


When entering your User I.D., and PIN numbers, do NOT use spaces or slashes.

To ensure your privacy, never give anyone else your PIN. When finished viewing your record, click on LOG OUT to clear your information from the screen.


TO SEE YOUR RECORD

If your card is about to expire, you will receive the message “Privilege Expired”. Renewals and holds can not be done until your privilege has been renewed. Present your library card to the circulation desk and ask for your privilege to be renewed.

  • In the upper right-hand corner, enter your library card number and your PIN. Click on LOG IN.

  • Click on My Account near the top of the screen. From here you have the following options:

    • Review My Account
    • User PIN Change
    • Renew My Materials
    • Change My Address
  • To view your record in any of these categories, click on the blue link.

  • Click on LOG OUT when finished to remove your information from the screen.



TO RENEW ITEMS

  • Click on RENEW MATERIALS.

  • A list of all materials checked out to your card will appear, simply select the items you want to renew and click on RENEW SELECTED ITEMS.

  • The next screen will indicate that the items were renewed and your new due date. Click on the OK button to confirm renewals.

  • Items that are on hold for someone else can NOT be renewed.

  • Click on OK to go back to “My Account”.
     

    NOTE: Items may only be renewed 3 times. 


TO PLACE A HOLD

  • From the Search screen, search for your item.

  • When it comes upon the screen, on the left hand side, click on PLACE HOLD.

  • On the next screen, choose the Branch where you wish to pick up the item. Click on OK.

  • The next screen will show your name, card number and alt. i.d. number along with the book title. If everything is correct, click on OK. (Not all materials can be placed on hold, this includes reference and genealogy/local history items.) You will be taken back to the search screen.

    You will be notified via telephone or email when your items come in. To be notified via email, you must first submit your email address to the library staff. Once notified, you will then have 3 days to pick them up.

    Remember that you may only check out 15 items at a time, so place holds accordingly.

     


TO CHANGE YOUR PIN

  • Click on USER PIN CHANGE
  • Type in your old PIN at the top half of the screen, then enter the new PIN twice at the bottom of the screen.

  • Click on CHANGE PIN.

  • A screen will indicate that the change has been made. Click on OK to go back to “My Account”.

    Note: For privacy , your PIN will not appear when it is typed in.  Instead, you will see asterisks (**).   Your PIN may be changed to any 4 to 10 digit number or letter combination.
