Community Display Case Policy
JEFFERSON COUNTY LIBRARY
PUBLIC SERVICES POLICY NUMBER PUB06-3
ADOPTED: August 22, 2006
COMMUNITY DISPLAY CASE POLICY
In order to better serve the interests and needs of the public, the
Jefferson County Library will make community display case(s) available to
local organizations and individuals engaged in community not-for-profit
activities. An application/release form for the use of the display case(s)
must be signed and submitted by the exhibitor prior to any exhibit being
accepted for installation in the case(s).
The community display case(s) for public use will be clearly designated, and
will have a disclaimer posted: The Jefferson County Library does not
endorse, approve, or promote the contents or subject matter of any displays,
nor does it endorse the viewpoints of the exhibitors.
The library will develop criteria regarding the size of the materials
permitted for display and the length of time of the exhibit so that
the exhibit space will be made available in an equitable manner.
Beyond maintaining locks on the display case, the library shall not be
responsible for the security of the materials in the display case.
Anyone who strongly objects to any part or entirety of an exhibit should
submit that objection in writing to the library director, and may appeal in
writing the director’s decision to the Jefferson County Library Board of
Trustees.
