Branch
staff can perform searches of up to 5 names in any indexed genealogy
materials held by the Northwest Branch for a $10 non-refundable fee.
This fee, which must be paid at the time of the request, includes the cost
of copies and postage. Make check payable to Jefferson County
Library.

Researchers are always welcome
to visit the library, use our materials, and make their own copies.
Black and white copies are 20¢ per page, color copies are 50¢ per page.

Newspaper Indexes by Year
This database indexes names of Jefferson County residents found in local
historical newspapers that are microfilmed and housed in the Northwest
Branch Special Collection.
The index includes names found in articles relating to items of genealogical
interest. Births, deaths, marriages, probate, divorce, and other items of
importance to the genealogist are included. (Please be aware that there are
some articles with local names not included, such as political,
school-related, and many social events.)
• Names are listed in alphabetical order and are spelled as they are found
the article.
• Subject lists what the article is about.
• Paper Date lists the date of the newspaper where the article is found.
• Page/Column lists the page number (i.e. 2, 3) and the column (i.e. a, b,
c) for locating the article.
• Key words list any other names listed in the article. (Note: If someone
else of the same last name as the primary subject is listed, that name is
not listed in key words.)
To Obtain Copies of the original articles:
Individuals visiting the Northwest Branch of the Jefferson County Library
may view and/or print articles from the microfilm. Copies are 20¢ per page.
